    Personality:

On the surface, Lydia is very much the stereotypical popular girl. She ignores people who aren't in her circle, she has money, and she only dates guys of a certain social standard. She is prissy and particular. Her clothes are the best brands, and she is very fashionable. (Not to mention Macy's clearly sponsors the show.)

But there's more than meets the eye. For one thing, Lydia is very smart. She can translate Latin, make Molotov cocktails, and wants to one day win the Feild Award for mathematics. Her need to be perfect and maintain the perfect image prevents her from showcasing her talents, especially when Jackson is concerned.

Jackson is her boyfriend at the start of the series, and at first it seems she is only with him for the status boost. But when he breaks up with her and cruelly belittles her, Lydia is truly hurt by it. She may be high maintenance and demanding, but she does love him. She was also the one thing that redeemed him. She understands him, his insecurities and why he is the way he is. He has a need to stand out, make a name so much so that he was willing to let go of her.

But that didn't stop her. Nothing really does. Even as her world is falling a part and she is legitimately insane from the psychotic werewolf in her head. She held her party, expected people to come. She'd already lost a lot of friends at that point, but nothing stopped Lydia. She has that mentality.

One of her fears is losing Jackson. Her whole world can crumble, and she'll keep moving forward as best as she could, but after Jackson had been stabbed and was certainly going to die, we see her truly fall a part. It isn't that she can't stand on her own with him, that he is her whole world. She still continued on after their break up, but both times she thought he was dead her, things in her world stopped. She showed her love for him by always wearing his key, a sign that he had finally let someone into his life.

As Lydia's world changes, so does she. At first she lives a very simple life. Everything is external, but she is competent. Her biggest fear is having her world fall a part. She's lost Jackson, she's mostly lost her status, and her friends don't let her in on what is happening. On top of the psychological damage that Peter Hale has inflicted. But she is a survivor.

Even after all of this, she makes it to the Lacrosse game. She has several friends on the team itself. Scott who was dating her best friend, Stiles who has surprisingly been a true friend to her, as well her exboyfriend and his best friend, Danny. People are important to her. Most people do not really know that much about her, about how intelligent or how caring she truly is. She can preserve herself a lot easier by being prissy and petty. She does it well.

But a lot of that is expecting the best. She knows who she is and what she's capable of (even if she does dumb herself down in the beginning around Jackson). It makes her rude and very judgmental, but she doesn't seem to care about most people's opinions. Only when Jackson belittles her do we see words actually affecting her. But around the opposite sex outside of Jackson, she knows how to handle them. She is attractive and she expects only the best.

This is an independence born out of rich parents who are never around. We see them once at a parent teach conference and once after Lydia's attacked. She doesn't talk about her family all that much, and they don't seem as important to her as some of the other teenager's. (For example, Allison's ties to her hunter family or Scott not wanting his mother to reject him being a werewolf, as well as Jackson's biological family's death and Derek losing his wolf pack which was his family. Lydia has none of that. Just herself, much like Jackson and his adopted family.)

The switch over from season two to season three shows the effects of not having Jackson in her life any more. For one thing she's a little colder, taking on the idea of just wanting some flings instead of pursuing anything with anyone, even if she starts to see Alpha Twin Aiden more.

She also learns about what she is. At first she's frightened, and she only comes out of these fugue states to find dead bodies, but the more she talks to Stiles about it. Eventually she learns to accept these abilities and even states that she wants to help people with them. She may be tired of finding the dead bodies, but maybe she can help prevent them in the first place.

Also with Scott becoming more and more of the True Alpha, Lydia is incorporated into their group. She is still her typical self, but she's found her place with them, regardless of social standing. Of course she still views herself on top, but she's gotten on without Jackson and the way her life was, even if saying his name can still invoke something in her.

Lydia was kept in the dark for all of season one and most of season two about the supernatural. When she's made aware, that is when there is a shift in her. She still comes across as snarky and like the HBIC she is, but her worldview has shifted. There hasn't been much time to showcase what she thinks now that she knows that she is also supernatural, but she does want to help others, and she even has let Stiles in. She's come to care for him, turning to him in times of trouble and even kissing him when he's having a panic attack. Ultimately she's one of the good guys.

Lydia will not like the idea of her crimes since most of them were committed under the control of Peter Hale. However since much of her cast is here, she will try and help in whatever way she can. Although the idea of doing menial labor isn't exactly high on her excitement list, she'll also try and find ways of putting her intelligence to use.

Powers/Abilities: Lydia is a Banshee, and while there hasn't been much given on what this means, we do know two things about her.

Screaming: Lydia is capable of screaming much louder and at a much higher frequency than normal.

Harbinger of Death: Lydia goes into a fugue state several times in season 2 and 3, and when she awakes, she is drawn to dead bodies.
